QUALIFICATION OVERVIEW

 

The NVQ Level 2 in Hospitality Services (Villa and Other Properties) is for individuals whose role in the hospitality sector requires well developed behavioral competencies but whose scope for independent decision making and for bringing about change is limited. Each unit of study is accompanied by a “Hands on” completion project.

 

Persons who attain this qualification will operate under supervision. They are likely to be in roles where they are required to:

 

• Provide accommodation reception services

• Provide room service

• Clean toilets and washrooms

• Respond to guest related complaints and requests

• Facilitate access to external services

 

Normally persons working at Level 2 should be able to competently carry out simple and complex routine work activities and to collaborate with others. The qualification covers competencies by providing services in Hospitality Services (Villa and Properties) Level 2 as indicated in the competency standard.

 

Relevant occupations include:

Chief executive Front line supervisor of production

Property real estate and community association manager

Apartment manager

Resident manager

 

To achieve this qualifications all core units must be achieved plus a minimum of three Level 1 electives and one elective from Level 2.

Hospitality Services (Villa and other Properties) Level 2

 

Duration: ten (10) months

Location: Hazard Skills Training Centre - CTDI

Overview:

The Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality Practice provides students with an opportunity to study a range of hospitality-related roles, such as Restaurant & Bar Service, Housekeeping and Front Office all in one programme.. The course combines theory with laboratory activities. Trainees begin with fundamental skills including leadership, customer service, basic management, problem solving and work place safety. These employer approved qualifications cover a good grounding for a variety of hospitality areas such as; front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, cookery and hospitality services all leading to employment opportunities.

The technical qualification is suitable for anyone either in full-time employment, or progressing from a Level 1 qualification or those who are able to start a qualification at Level 2.

Objectives:

 

  • Introduction to basic management and supervision

  • Practicing Safe, hygienic and secure working environments in hospitality

  • Introduction to effective teamwork

  • Giving customers a positive impression

  • Introduction to Food safety in catering

  • Principles of customer service in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism

  • Provide Table service

  • Develop Barista coffee service skills

  • Preparing and presenting food for cold presentation

  • Learn the basic principles of menu design, layout and presentation

  • Learn how to pair food and beverages and Keep up to date with popular trends

  • Introduction to working as part of a team to deliver specific requirements, promotions and specials to customers.

  • Provide efficient, accurate and Effective service in line with customer needs and brand standards.

 

Entry Requirement:

Any NVQ-J Level 1 certification or successful completion of the HEART NSTA Trust Diagnostic Test or at least one (1) CSEC or GCE subject.

 

Qualification Gained:

  • NVQ-J Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality Services (Villa and other Properties). The NVQ-J Certification is recognized in all CARICOM and Commonwealth countries.
