Enhance your management skills and hone your ability to run a small business with a NVQ-J Certification. This programme is designed to provide an academic foundation and specialized training for small business owners and persons interested in business and management who need to upgrade their academic qualifications for further tertiary level studies and formalize functional skills in management. Students build competencies in English Language and Mathematics and are introduced to management principles and integrated skills to enable them to improve organizational efficiency.

This programme is designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation in core business functions including general business administration, accounting, finance, project management, information technology, human resources, marketing, international business, logistics and organizational behavior. These competencies are flexible enough that upon graduation, careers in a variety of different fields may be available. Students may initially be interested in business administration because they feel they have leadership skills and think they could be successful managing teams, but as they take courses they discover there’s so much more to business administration than management.

Overview:
This qualification will give the underpinning knowledge that is required to successfully work in a range of different environments in a business administration role. It helps one to Develop essential knowledge of how to carry out administrative tasks such as how to manage information and supporting events and also helps you learn how to apply the knowledge in a variety of industries and job roles.

Business and Administration are for people who want to work in administrative support roles in public or private sector organizations, or people who want to improve their administrative and supervisory skills. These flexible qualifications can be tailored to individual learners' and employers' needs - no matter what industry they're in. Candidates are supported with blended learning (Online Classes). The Centre is flexible in its approach to delivering training programmes, and will deliver its through distance learning.

The technical qualification is suitable for anyone either in full-time employment, or progressing from a Level 1 qualification or those who are able to start a qualification at Level 2.

Objectives:

Communication in a Business Environment: in writing, verbally, planning communications, in a wide range of situations and developing communication skills through feedback.

Principles of Providing Administrative Services: organising meetings, travel and accommodation, managing diary systems, using office equipment and the use of mail services in a business context.

Principles of Document Production and Information Management: preparing and distributing business documents and managing information in business organisations.

Understand Employer Organisations: organisational structures and the organisational environment.

Manage Personal Performance and Development: managing own performance, time and workload. Fulfilling a personal development plan and seeking feedback on performance.

Develop Working Relationships with Colleagues: effective team working. maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and working collaboratively to resolve problems.
Entry Requirement:
Any NVQ-J Level 1 certification or successful completion of the HEART NSTA Trust Diagnostic Test or at least one (1) CSEC or GCE subject.
Qualification Gained:

NVQ-J Level 2 Certificate in Business Administration. The NVQ-J Certification is recognized in all CARICOM and Commonwealth countries.
